Before any event you should really be looking at the weather
and how you will dress your face accordingly. Rain or shine.. you need to protect your face. No makeup mishaps here!!
Anyone who wears makeup needs to own a good primer. Every
skin tone is different so you really need to try a few. It’s a pretty scary
purchase to commit to but you really need to research what’s out there. There's literally something for everyone and all different prices.
For someone with combination & Sensitive skin like
myself – i use an awesome Nars Primer which is a pore refining primer. It’s
awesome for my skin when its particularly oily in summer. You have to be really
careful with what base you use and make sure you always test it on your skin
before your event because there is nothing worse than an uncomfortable rash on
your face! Seriously. Take it from a girl who has had lash-rash in the past... I know those
feels.
My original favourite primer was the Mac Cosmetics - Prep + Prime Skin. And i always really like
the pump bottle that this comes in. I felt like i got a lot for my money which is always
surprising with Mac.
It goes on like a dream and is easily spreadable which is probably why i felt like i got a lot for my money..Because you don’t need much. At all. It’s incredibly soothing on sensitive skin and it’s always in my travel bag!
Although i love my Mac Primer, i’m totally playing favourites with the Nars (new kid on the block) at the moment. I’m breaking out so i feel like it sits on my face better and isn’t as thick. I don’t know.. i just like new things alright?!!
I also recommend using Mac Fix + for every occasion because it literally locks in your makeup. I am mortified to admit that i used to actually spray my face with HAIRSPRAY!!!! and then i realised what i was putting into my skin and into my pores. Luckily i found Fix+ shortly after giving up hairspray and i have never turned back. I pack it into my handbag daily and its a necessity for the hotter months and the summer festivals. Especially the Races!! no one wants their foundation rubbing off at the races when you are surrounded by babes!! You don't wanna be the shiny face in the instagram pictures because no amount of filter can hide a shiny forehead. Not even Valencia.
OOOOOONE LAST THING -
You need a tan. Unless you are a beautiful, porcelain doll, white colour then yes. you need a little glow. I saw some intense fake tans this past weekend and let me tell you... there's nothing glamorous about an orange tan that is crusty around your ankles. Ladies please.. don't do it to yourself. pictures last forever. Once that shit is on the internet.. it never disappears. Mark Zuckerberg is probably laughing at my fake tan fails from 5 years ago..
My friend Kayla does amazing fake tans. they don't smell and she has never ever left me orange! She is based in Perth and her page is - Kayla Turferriera Makeup Artistry via Facebook! Check her out. You will not regret it.
If you'd like to do it yourself.. I swear by St Tropez!!! I have never had a fake tan tail with St Tropez Mousse or this Gradual Tan. Exfoliation is extremely important before any tan as it is essential to make sure your tan is even. It is ESSENTIAL GUYS!! Anyway.. I would recommend this gradual tan for a natural looking summer glow!
That's pretty much my pre-races/any event tips. I have nothing left to give you my loves..
REMEMBER
It is a crime to not prime and it's a sin to have a terrible fake tan.
Just so you know.... I don't make the rules guys...
See you soon.
Next post is what i pack in my purse on a night out! It's actually exciting stuff because it's the essentials alright, Jasper doesn't think it's exciting but it is.
LOVE
